Stackable Credentials

With stackable credentials, you can start anywhere. The Global Military Learning Network (GMLN) provides a tailored pathway to education and career advancement.

We know you have a lot of experience already, and we aim to provide you with the maximum college credit for that experience. GMLN bridge programs award an average of 15 transfer credits for military experience, more than double the average traditional JST review.

You can start with a certificate program to grow your skills, then seamlessly apply those credits toward a diploma or associate degree when you’re ready.

This stackable approach means you can earn qualifications as you go, building on your strong foundation while progressing toward higher credentials (without taking courses you don’t need!). If you’d rather dive right in to a degree program, you can do that, too.

Several associate degrees have transfer agreements with universities across Minnesota and beyond, allowing your hard-earned credit to continue to work for you as you advance your education.

Stack of books with corresponding color bands showing this information: GMLN Military Bridges award an average of 15 Transfer Credits for your Military Training and Experience. Certificates average 22 credits, Diplomas average 40 credits, Associate Degrees average 60 credits, and Bachelor's Degrees average 120 credits. You can start with any of these awards and apply the credit you've earned to higher credentials as you go.

Additional college credit may be granted for other military courses with a Joint Service Transcript (JST) or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Transcript, courses from other colleges/universities upon review of an official transcript, and ACE Military Guide recommendations.
